It seems that even reality television can’t keep a marriage together.
Britney and Kevin got divorced after documenting their lives in a short-lived TV series, as did Hulk Hogan. Now, Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler, who starred in the MTV show Meet the Barkers for two seasons, have untied their knot as well.
The former drummer for Blink-182 has had an on-and-off relationship with Moakler since he filed for divorce in August 2006, citing irreconcilable differences. But new documents filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court (dated February 8) have finalized their divorce. The former spouses now have joint physical and legal custody of their two children, according to Yahoo!Xtra News. Barker will have Landon, 4, and Alabama, 2, from Friday to Monday each week, while Moakler will get them in between. The parents are splitting holiday time with the kids equally.
This is the second divorce for Barker, 32. After he proposed to Moakler at Disneyland on Christmas Eve 2003, they married on October 30, 2004, in a very gothic ceremony arranged as a tribute to the movie The Nightmare before Christmas. Meet the Barkers debuted in April 2005 and ran for less than a year.
After the couple first separated, Barker had a temporary fling with notorious socialite Paris Hilton. In March 2007, Barker and Moakler tried reconciling their marriage and were even spotted together at that year’s Video Music Awards after they’d reportedly separated again. Evidently, it didn’t work out in the end.
Barker joined Blink-182 in 1998. The alternative punk band broke up in 2005, and since then, he has been drumming mainly for +44 (alongside ex-Blinkmate Mark Hoppus). He has also appeared in the occasional movie and TV show, including American Pie and CSI, and voiced himself on The Simpsons and South Park.
Moakler, also 32, was Miss USA in 1995. Her film credits include The Wedding Singer and Big Momma’s House 2; her past relationships and flings include Billy Idol, Oscar de la Hoya, and Dennis Quaid.
