After more than a decade together, actress Ashley Judd, 44, and Scottish CART racer Dario Franchitti, 39, are heading for divorce.
“We have mutually decided to end our marriage,” the couple noted in a joint statement toPEOPLE. “We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed.”
It’s unclear whether the divorce will derail Judd’s aspirations to run for the U.S. Senate in 2014, or force Franchitti to take time off from his demanding race schedule. His most recent race was at last week’s Rolex 24 in Daytona, Florida, where he finished 37th.
The couple does not have any children together, and appear to be proceeding as amicably as possible. We wish them well, and hope that they get the support and advice they need to ensure that the only headlines they make are for movies and races – not divorce battles.
