The top three most costly divorce settlements, according to the magazine, include basketball star Michael Jordan, singer-songwriter Neil Diamond, and Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg. Jordan’s settlement could be the costliest of celebrity divorce settlements to date if his wife of almost 18 years, Chicago banker Juanita Vanoy, is awarded half his assets (more than $150 million). Diamond ranks a close second at an estimated $150 million. According to the magazine, Diamond said at the time of the divorce in 1996 that Marcia Murphey, whom he married in 1969, was “worth every penny.” Actress Amy Irving was awarded about half of Spielberg’s weath, or $100 million, when the filmmaker’s first marriage ended in 1989. Irving successfully challenged her prenuptial agreement with Spielberg which according to the magazine, was written on a cocktail napkin.
