Pamela Anderson isn't the only celebrity in the past week who wants to erase a recent marriage. On the other side of the world, Bollywood tough guy Sanjay Dutt and his new wife have asked Indian authorities for an annulment, citing technical reasons.

The 48-year-old film actor, who is currently out of prison on bail for charges of illegal weapon possession, filed the annulment papers on February 27 with his third wife, former Bollywood starlet Manyata Dilnawaz. AFP quoted an affidavit from the couple, via a court official, as saying that they "filed a joint declaration... stating they do not desire to solemnize their marriage under the Portuguese civil code, 1867."

The two actors secretly married this month at a beach resort in Goa, a former Portuguese colony that's now a state of India, but shortly afterwards held a traditional Hindu wedding in Mumbai on February 10.

However, a man purporting to be Manyata's husband claims that she has not divorced from him, according to AFP. Manyata and the man reportedly have a two-year-old son as well. She and Dutt broke Goa law by not filing proof of their divorces before the first wedding ceremony, and Manyata is also alleged to have forged residence documents in order to get married there.

It's not yet clear whether or not the couple plans to remarry after clearing up the mess.

Dutt, who starred in a number of Indian hit movies in the '80s including Vidhaata, Naam, and Hathyar, is famous for playing gangsters and antiheroes, but his real life has taken its own criminal turns. He was sentenced to six years in jail last July after he bought guns from the plotters of the Mumbai "Black Friday" bombings in 1993. Dutt claims that he bought the guns to protect his family from Hindu zealots who wanted revenge due to his father's role in aiding Muslim victims of the 1993 riots. He is appealing the conviction to India's Supreme Court.

Dutt has an adult daughter, Trishala, from his first marriage to actor Richa Sharma. Sharma later succumbed to cancer. His second marriage ended in divorce.
