January 12, 2010: Not-so-desperate housewife by Jeffrey Cottrill The Real Housewives of Orange County is about to get a little more real. Star Tamra Barney's husband filed for divorce last Wednesday -- and claims that she is both unfaithful and abusive. According to Simon Barney's divorce filing, he wants joint child custody of the couple's two sons -- as well as Tamra's daughter from a previous marriage -- and has requested that the court deny Tamra Barney spousal support. He states in divorce papers that his wife "has been verbally abusive and has committed acts of disloyalty and adultery", according to People. "Simon has simply had enough. The show changed her," a source close to the Barneys told RadarOnline.com last week.
For her part, Tamra Barney posted her response to her friends and fans via Facebook. "Thank you to everyone who understands and supports me," she wrote. "For the record, all accusations are false." On Thursday's episode of the Bravo TV reality series, Tamra Barney said to her mother that she and Simon were "seriously heading towards divorce". The episode also included footage of the couple fighting. Tamra Barney, 42, already has moved out of the couple's million-dollar home and relocated to a two-bedroom apartment, according to RadarOnline.com's source. The couple married in 1998. The Real Housewives of Orange County began airing on Bravo in March 2006; Tamra Barney joined the cast at the beginning of the third season, in November 2007.
