The Beatles sang that money can't buy you love. But it can get you one long, massive, over-publicized divorce.

London newspaper The Evening Standard reported on March 14 that rock legend Sir Paul McCartney will pay 25 million pounds to estranged wife Heather Mills, as based on a court judgment. Judge Hugh Bennett has sent details of the decision to both parties, and neither has raised any major objections, the story said. Bennett will officially hand over the verdict on March 17.

"The judgment has been made," an anonymous source close to the case told the Standard. "The parties involved received their copies this week. On an analysis of the case law, Mills was always going to receive around 25 million pounds. It's fair to say the judge has not erred from that."

The source added, "The judgment is very thorough. [Judge Bennett] has gone into every detail to make sure neither party can have grounds for appeal. It's fair to say the judgment is very long."

The paper didn't say whether the judgment included provisions for the couple's four-year-old daughter, Beatrice.

The verdict should finally put an end to nearly two years of public and private bickering between the ex-Beatle, 65, and the former model turned activist, 40. The lengthy divorce drama ranged from disagreements over how much Mills would receive from McCartney's estimated 825-million-pound fortune, to public accusations by Mills of physical abuse.

McCartney and Mills married in June 2002, at Castle Leslie in Glaslough, Ireland. They announced their separation in May 2006, followed by a divorce petition two months later. It's been a Long and Winding Road, but let's hope we're close to The End.
