Nas asks judge to deny spousal support to Kelis.

Poor Kelis. It's bad enough that her marriage to Nas has fallen apart only weeks before she's due to give birth to their child. But now, her estranged husband has made a request to the judge to deny her the spousal support she wants -- and even refuses to pay Kelis' legal fees.

According to TMZ.com, Nas has responded to Kelis' April 30 divorce filing by asking the judge to deny her financial requests, even though he's one of the world's wealthiest hip hoppers. However, the rap stars both want joint custody of their child.

Although Kelis, 29, cited irreconcilable differences in her petition, TMZ reports that she believes that her husband was having an affair. But another rumor has spread that a sex tape Kelis had made several years ago with another rapper (before her marriage) did severe damage to Nas' ego.

"Nas completely shut down physically and emotionally," TheYBF.com reported on May 6, "which is why they were very rarely seen together in public over the past few months." The website also claimed that Kelis' pregnancy actually had been a desperate attempt to save the marriage.>

Looks like this divorce might get Nas-ty. But even if the court denies Kelis' support request, it's hard to imagine that the "Millionaire" rapper won't have the means to look after herself or her unborn child. She's got plenty to keep her busy in the meantime, too: she is currently writing a cookbook and designing a fashion line, and she soon may be hosting a new VH1 series.

Nas, 35, has been working on a new album, Distant Relatives, a collaborative effort with reggae singer Damian Marley. The album is scheduled for release on June 23.
