Kevin Federline's attorney expects Britney to pay his legal fees.

In the latest chapter of the Britney Spears/Kevin Federline post-divorce saga, the lawyer for K-Fed (or "Fed-ex", as some in the media have called him) now wants pop superstar Spears, 25, to foot the bill for her ex-husband's legal services.

The Associated Press reports that an August 26 declaration from divorce attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan states that his client is left with "no net income" due to various expenses. (It seems he can't rely on sales of his rap album.) Federline's spousal support, which amounts to $20,000 per month, reportedly ends in November. As Spears takes in an average income of $737,868 a month, Kaplan believes that she should be able to afford $50,000 towards Federline's litigation expenses as she is "clearly the 'monied party.'"

Meanwhile, in the former couple's ongoing child-custody battle, Federline's legal team has finally managed to subpoena Spears' ex-manager, Larry Rudolph. E! Online reported that Rudolph received the papers on the morning of August 30, at the Sunset Tan tanning salon in West L.A.

Rudolph joins a widening group of people ordered to testify against Spears in the custody trial, including a close friend of hers, her bodyguard, her former assistant, and an administrative executive at the rehab clinic where Spears stayed for four weeks earlier this year.

In an interview with E! News anchor Ryan Seacrest last weekend, Rudolph admitted that he had been trying to escape Kaplan's subpoena machine for weeks, as he wanted to remain loyal to Spears in spite of having professionally parted ways with her not once but twice. "My loyalty will always stay strong with Britney," he told Seacrest. "I'm trying to avoid being brought into this mess." He added that if he has to be a witness in the trial, his testimony "won't be good for Britney."

Federline, 29, and Spears have shared custody of sons Sean Preston, 23 months, and Jayden James, 11 months, since February. There is a court hearing scheduled on September 17, although a lawyer for Spears has requested a continuance until November.
