February 3, 2010: What Katie Did Next by Jeffrey Cottrill The U.K. has a new tabloid couple over whom to obsess. Less than five months after landing a "quickie" divorce from singer Peter Andre, TV personality and former model Katie Price has remarried -- to mixed martial arts fighter Alex Reid. Price's representative announced in a statement today that the couple had married yesterday in a "private, simple ceremony" in Las Vegas. "Their decision to marry has not been made with any preconceived commercial plan or media deal in place," Price's publicist said, "and their reason for getting married is purely down to their love for each other." Price and Reid issued their own press statement as well. "We are very much in love," the couple announced, "and look forward to the future together. We can't wait to get back and celebrate our marriage with our friends and family who, we know, fully support our wishes."
The couple has struck a £1 million (or $1.6 million U.S.) deal with a British magazine for exclusive wedding photos, according to AFP. Reid, 34, emerged as the winner on British reality-TV series Celebrity Big Brother 2010 last week. He was also a stand-in for Tom Hanks in the 1998 hit war movie Saving Private Ryan. His MMA record boasts eight wins out of 18 matches. Price and Reid began dating in July, only a couple of months after Price, 31, separated from Andre. Price, who has also worked under the name Jordan, has a four-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter with Andre, as well as a seven-year-old son with soccer pro Dwight Yorke. Katie Price has won awards from Cosmopolitan and Loaded magazines for her modeling work. She has written three autobiographies and two children's books, and four ghostwritten novels have also been published under her name. Price has been a regular on another popular British reality series, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, and starred in Katie & Peter and What Katie Did Next.
