The National Enquirer reports that actor John Travolta was ready to call it quits on his marriage with actress Kelly Preston shortly after their 16-year-old autistic son, Jet, died from a seizure.

Travolta was extremely affected by the 2009 incident that he took a five-day Caribbean cruise by himself.

But that's not all.

He had the intent of returning and filing for divorce.

Sources say, John and Kelly were so shocked at that time to the point of being numb.

The couple was drowning in sorrow. They couldn't concentrate on almost anything.

John at one point confessed to a friend saying, he and Kelly have become strangers. All Kelly did was cry.

But the cruise gave John the time he needed to contemplate on his life. The cruise was a turning point in their relationship.

Although John was on the verge of a complete breakdown, he decided not to go on with the divorce. All they needed was another baby.

The couple learned from their pain. Their love united them again, giving way for a child. Travolta's decision to stick with his wife Preston paved the way for a miracle child.

Despite the tragedies they have encountered, John and Kelly have always been there for one another.
