Rocker John Mellencamp and model Elaine Irwin have finalized their divorced on August 12.

The two were married for 18 years.

In a recent interview, Mellencamp revealed that the cause of the split was an “irretrievably broken” marriage.

According to the settlement agreement, they have negotiated an amicable settlement of all issues including property and maintenance rights, the custody and support of their children, and all other issues.

The couple has been separated since September of 2010. They have two sons, 17-year-old Hud and 16-year-old Speck. Irwin will get primary custody of their sons but is willing to share it with Mellencamp. The rocker will pay for child support and the boys’ schooling.

Mellencamp and Irwin announced their separation in December and he filed for divorce in January. Since the split, he has been dating actress Meg Ryan.
