People were shocked on Friday as Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony announced that they were splitting after seven years of marriage. Although there were hints that the couple was having problems, it still came as a shock to many.

Amicable conclusions on all matters have been reached according to the couple.

Friends closest to Lopez and Anthony said the couple had been struggling for years.

Singer-actress Lopez did everything to make the marriage work.

They added that the couple had an up and down relationship. At times they would have a huge and terrible fight and other times, they would be very loving and romantic. Even from the start it was already a roller coaster.

Lopez was an “American Idol” judge last season. She hasn’t announced yet if she’s returning to the show.

Lopez and Anthony announced plans for a television show together last April. “Q’Viva! The Chosen” will feature the couple as they travel around the world in search of the best performers in Latin music, dance and other arts.

It is not sure if the show will continue.

Lopez will likely remain in Los Angeles with primary custody of her son and daughter.

Despite her broken heart, Lopez isn’t slowing down career-wise. A number of projects are in line including a new Kohl’s clothing line, a new romantic comedy and most likely a return to American Idol.

Lopez and Anthony were married in 2004 and have 3-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

The marriage was the third for Lopez and the second for Anthony. Each of their previous three marriages lasted only a year.
