December 2, 2008: This marriage was no Survivor either by Jeffrey Cottrill Less than eight months after marrying Rossano Rubicondi, socialite and author Ivana Trump has revealed that she and the 36-year-old Italian actor have already broken up. In fact, the separation happened three months ago. The ex-wife of real-estate tycoon Donald Trump (and former advice columnist for Divorce Magazine) announced in a December 1 press statement that she had been keeping the split secret because, as Rubicondi was a contestant on the Italian celebrity version of the reality-TV series Survivor, she was afraid the media coverage would affect his standing in the competition.
"I filed a legal separation agreement three months ago," Trump's statement read. "I kept quiet about the agreement, as I didn't want to spoil his chances of winning the TV show." She added that the reason for the split was disagreement over where to live. "Rossano wants to live in Miami and work in Milan," Trump explained. "But I am a New Yorker, and my family, friends, and businesses are here. As the beautiful song says, 'Que sera sera'!" Reports had surfaced that Rubicondi was cheating on Trump with Belen Rodriguez, a model from Argentina and another contestant on the TV series. But Trump denied there was an affair in a November 9 column for the New York Post, in which she revealed that Rubicondi had been eliminated from the show. This was the fourth marriage (and by far the shortest one) for Ivana Trump, 59. She and Rubicondi -- who had been dating for five and half years -- married in a lavish $3 million ceremony with 400 guests at Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago mansion in Palm Beach, Florida. |
