October 5, 2009: Her score isn't Love after all by Jeffrey Cottrill Looks like tennis and golf don't mix. American tennis legend Chris Evert and Australian golf superstar Greg Norman have separated, and they've been married only 15 months. "We will remain friends and supportive of one another's family," the couple said in a press statement on Friday. They also asked for privacy for themselves and their families, but did not confirm whether they were planning to divorce.
The couple (both of them 54) were spotted together most recently at New York City's U.S. Open tennis championships in mid-September. This is Evert's third marriage, following her previous unions to tennis star John Lloyd and Olympic skier Andy Mill. She has three teenage sons from her union to Mill. Norman, meanwhile, originally was married to flight attendant Laura Andrassy; their marriage produced two children. Norman and Evert married in the Bahamas in June 2008. Chris Evert still holds the world records for career win-loss record in single matches and for singles championships at the U.S. Open and French Open. She also won 18 Grand Slam singles titles during her career. Greg Norman was the world's top-ranked golfer during much of the 1980s and 1990s. This week, he is the captain at the Presidents Cup in San Francisco.
