Billy Ray Cyrus calls off his divorce.

Sometimes the breakup just doesn't work out.

Country-music superstar Billy Ray Cyrus, best known for his 1992 worldwide smash "Achy Breaky Heart", announced on The View on Friday that he had "dropped the divorce". Cyrus submitted a divorce filing from his wife of 17 years, Leticia "Tish" Cyrus, last October 26, citing irreconcilable differences. But the relationship appears to be on the mend: E! News reported on the same day that Cyrus had withdraw his petition on March 11.

"Things are really the best they've ever been," Cyrus said on the show. "A lot of people think that I am divorced -- I'm not divorced... I wanted to put my family back together."

In mid-February, Cyrus blamed his daughter Miley Cyrus' phenomenal success as the star of the Disney TV series Hannah Montana for his marital breakdown, in an interview with GQ. "I'll tell you right now -- the damn show destroyed my family," Cyrus told the magazine. "I hate to say it, but yes... I'd take it back in a second."

But by Friday, he'd switched to damage-control mode: "To set the record straight, I love Hannah Montana, I love Disney -- that didn't tear my family apart. Now fame -- fame is a different animal," he said on The View.

Cyrus, 49, married Tish Cyrus in December 1993. The couple has two other children besides 18-year-old Miley Cyrus: 11-year-old actor Noah Cyrus and 16-year-old son Braison. Cyrus also has two adopted stepchildren from Tish Cyrus' first marriage, as well as an 18-year-old son from a previous relationship. His first marriage was to Cindy Smith, from 1986 to 1991.

Since "Achy Breaky Heart" made him an instant country icon, Billy Ray Cyrus has recorded 11 studio albums. His next, I'm American, is set for release in May.
