They say that the best way to overcome life's setbacks is to turn lemons into lemonade. In this case, you might say Alec Baldwin is turning a bitter divorce into... Beetlejuice?

The eldest and most famous of the Baldwin brothers, who recently went through a tumultuous, public marital breakup from Kim Basinger, has announced that he has written a guide to help men survive divorce. The book is titled A Promise to Ourselves: A Journey through Fatherhood and Divorce.

Baldwin's book will be available for sale on September 23.

Baldwin mentioned the project to the New York Daily News as early as April 2007. "Once my book is published," he told the paper, "I'm sure more people will understand the incredible strains created by parental alienation."

More recently, the actor and political activist told Weekend, "It is not a personal memoir, and I have no desire to settle some score with her through this. In fact, I was originally reluctant to write this book for that very reason." He added: "I didn't want to be perceived as stirring the pot or calling attention to any of that again. However, I do find the situation disgraceful, and I wanted to say so."

Baldwin, 50, was referring to the very public battle between him and Basinger over custody of their now 12-year-old daughter, Ireland. On April 19, 2007, an angry voicemail message from Baldwin to his daughter (in which he called her a "rude, thoughtless little pig" and Basinger "a thoughtless pain in the ass") was leaked to TMZ.com. He subsequently apologized for the outburst on The View.
