Most people are unaware that a licensed lawyer is not required to get a divorce. The legal paperwork to file and obtain a divorce is not rocket science and can be easily done. There are numerous online sources.

Licensed lawyers want you to think that they are indispensable to getting a divorce. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Lawyers have been trained to think that no transaction in any domain of life should take place without their involvement. Of course, that statement too is untrue.

In my entire adult life, I have never met an honest lawyer. This is the case because they are trained to be dishonest, although what they are trained to do is not called "dishonest." That's part of the double-speak that predominates in the world of law.

In the State of Texas, the law requires an attempt at mediation before a divorce will be granted. A substantial majority of lawyers don't like mediation because it costs them money and removes some of their power.

I advise people that a non-lawyer divorce mediator is the best person to use to get a divorce. The worst person you can use is a licensed lawyer.

Lawyers create controversy, stress, conflict, and ulcers. They also cost you and society a boatload of money that most money can't afford and don't have readily available for this purpose.

The practice of law is nothing more than a the practice of deception and greed. There is no competition in the practice of law, which is why lawyer income has skyrocketed to a level that exceeds physicians and all other occupational groups.

Lawyers have the highest rates of depression, divorce, suicide, alcoholism, and illegal drug use among all occupational groups.

Is that really the kind of person you want to help you get a divorce?
