Title: Catholics and divorce
I live in Ontario. I'm a practicing Catholic and my husband isn't. We separated a few months ago. If he wants to get divorced, can I refuse on the grounds that I'm Catholic?

madalex may be correct in the state that he/she resides but it doesn't necessarily hold true elsewhere. It is true that lots and lots (a whole bunch) if Catholics do get divorced but that doesn't lead to answering your question. There may be just as many who don't. Who knows?
Please post more specifics for a more specific answer.

Ontario, Canada or Ontario, California?
I have no info particular to your local laws but this is generaly the way I see it. You and hubby where married under a common agreement. What was the understanding at the time of the marriage? were you both married in the Curch? What were the commonly held purposes that the two of you were married for? This would all be essential in deciding the issue at hand.

No. Two reasons: (1) a divorce can go forward even if only one spouse wants it and the other does not and (2) lots and lots of Catholics get divorced.
