If my ex-wife and I have joint or shared custody our our son, will I still have to pay child support?
We will be having the child at each of our homes for an equal amount of time during the week. You must Login / Register to post a reply.

Thanks.
I guess since I do work full time and my ex-wife has only started a part time job recently (after being unemployed for over 4 years means that I will become her second source of income... |

It depends upon the laws of your state. In some places, equally shared custody will reduce child support, but some child support is still required if there is a wide disparity in incomes between the parents. In other states, child support as a percentage of income is required to be paid by the non-custodial parent to the custodial regardless of the amount of time the children spend with each parent. You really should consult a lawyer on this very important issue.
