My ex is often late on child support. He never pays on a schedule just what he wants, when he wants. He owes me well over $3,000 now. I don't want to do the family court thing, but as part of our agreement he is able to claim our child as a dependent on his tax returns. To show him I am serious about paying on time and the amount in full I have not signed off on the tax form saying he can claim our child. Would I be in trouble for this? I have no problem with him being able to claim the child if he paid support in full on time. instead he feels that I'm his personal bank that loans him money and whenever he pays of the loan it's ok. Well it's not, I have bills too. Please advise.

In Wisconsin the judge took my ex's right to claim our daughter away if he is any amount in arrears. Do you have a court order stating he has the right to claim, or is it just a mutual agreement between the two of you?

In Utah there's a law that states a parent deliquent in childcare doesn't have the right to claim the children (unless you give it to them). Maybe other states have this law as well.
