Title: Child suppt a requirement?
My separated wife and I were both gainfully employed when we first separated. We agreed neither of us would seek the other's child support and we always agreed that we'd keep custody of our one child as close to 50-50 as possible.

Living in close cities makes it easy to do. Although our child is starting school and will need to live with mom most of the time to go to school.

I just lost my job. It's likely to be awhile before I get another. Now mom is seeking child support from me as a part of our final divorce agreement.

She says that her lawyer reports it's mandatory in Ontario that child support gets paid.

I child support considered mandatory?
