Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck divorce on hold

More than a year since announcing their separation, actors Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck may have put their divorce on hold. Neither party has filed any divorce papers or taken any other steps to end the marriage, causing speculation that the couple may have reconciled.

According to a Us Weekly source, Garner – known for her role in the TV show Alias and films such as 13 Going on 30 and Dallas Buyers Club – had discussed going through the divorce very soon, but the situation has not changed since. "Jen seems to still be in love with Ben but doesn’t allow her mind to go there," the same source explained. "She just focuses on the kids."

An insider has stated that if it were up to Affleck, they would still be together and stay married. However, a source close to Affleck explained that the couple was never in a rush to divorce in the first place, and their lawyers are working on the details of the divorce privately.

Amicable Separation for their Children's Sake

The two had been married for 10 years, raising three children – Violet, 10, Seraphine, 7, and Samuel, 4. Garner, 44, and Affleck, 43, have focused on having an amicable separation for the children's sake, including cohabiting in their $17.5 million, five-bedroom house in Los Angeles. According to Us Weekly, the exes sleep in separate rooms – with Garner sleeping in the same bedroom as her daughter Violet while Affleck stays in the guest room.

Since their separation, they have been spotted going on family outings and vacations numerous times. Most recently, while Affleck – who most recently starred in the blockbuster film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice – was filming Justice League in London, Garner and the children joined him for a few weeks, staying in a rental home, followed by sightseeing in Europe as a family. A source has stated that the the two "want their kids' lives to go on as uninterrupted as possible."

According to a TMZ source, the couple’s reason for prolonging the process is to protect their children and create a co-parenting structure.

Garner and Affleck announced their separation in June 2015 a day after their 10-year anniversary without giving any specific reason for the split. Not soon after the couple split, news surfaced about Affleck’s affair with the family’s nanny. Garner has since stated that she was unaware of the nanny and infidelity did not play a role in the separation.
