A member of the U.S. military in Birmingham, Alabama knows how difficult it is to build a successful marriage, especially if you’re in the military.

Corporal Calvin Gray and his ex wife began dating just before he went to boot camp. So basically, they were far apart most of the time. And because of the time spent apart, the couple slowly drifted away from each other. A painful truth that Corporal Gray had to accept.

In 2010, 7.8 percent of women in the military got a divorce while 3 percent of military men did.

But there’s good news.

The divorce rate hasn’t changed since 2010. There hasn’t been any increase so far and this is definitely something to look forward to. One of the reasons for this is the military’s recent stance to help military families in strengthening their marriages.

In fact, marriage support programs are being offered by the military and it has been revealed that couples attending such programs suffer fewer divorces compared to those who do not.
