"Do both myself and my spouse need to be in the same room if we go the mediation route for our divorce?"

It all depends upon the type of mediation that you’re involved in. Many parties now go to mediation at the very inception and work out the basic terms of their agreement and then take the mediation agreement to an attorney of their choice to follow through with the divorce proceedings. In those situations both you and your spouse will be in the same room with the mediator working out the details of your agreement. If you or your spouse have already initiated a divorce proceeding and each party has an attorney, then when you go to mediation, the mediator will almost certainly separate you into different rooms throughout the entire mediation process.
