"Most divorces never go to trial so, why do family lawyers prepare as if they are?"

Trial is the last resort in family law. Most cases can be resolved without a trial. I especially believe that custody matters should be resolved outside of the court setting. Happily today we have many alternatives for custody matters. However there are some matters that should go to trial. Complex financial matters, complex matters involving business valuations, income analysis, offshore assets, those matters often require the assistance of a trial and a trial judge to finally resolve the dispute.
