• The Litigation Division When settlement isn't possible, Karlan offers nearly 25 years’ experience representing both genders in divorce, domestic violence, paternity, and child-support cases. • The Document Preparation Division Most people need certain personal legal documents to assure that their medical and financial affairs would be in order if the client were unable to make those decisions. Living wills, advance health care directives, and HIPAA releases are examples of those papers.

Ms. Karlan favors alternate dispute resolution for the control and flexibility it gives her clients. "It's like threading a needle," she says. "You've got to find that spot that will give each side enough, so both parties can walk away satisfied." She also provides unbundled services so the services fit the client’s need and finances.
