“Can I bring a relative or friend along with me when I meet with my lawyer?”

Most attorneys do not mind if you bring a support person into the meeting. However, as a technical matter, the presence of another person may affect whether that meeting is confidential. If you want to discuss facts with the attorney that should be kept confidential, the other person should step out. Remember, loose lips sink ships.
